How HTX Users Send Bitcoin On-Chain

HTX — formerly known as Huobi — is one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges in Asia and globally. HTX users who want to send Bitcoin on-chain from their own address need to withdraw to a personal wallet first. HTX maintains pooled wallets for its users' BTC balances, and all outgoing transactions from an HTX account originate from one of HTX's operational addresses. The Bitcoin blockchain records that address, not the user's account. Bitok Arena's review of HTX's withdrawal process found an additional complication specific to this exchange: consecutive sends from the same HTX account may go out from different HTX operational addresses, creating fragmented on-chain records rather than a single cumulative position.

HTX holds a significant share of the Bitcoin held by exchange users globally. None of those holders can create a personal on-chain Bitcoin record with their HTX balance until the BTC leaves the exchange. One withdrawal to a personal wallet establishes a bc1 address that belongs to the user — and that address becomes the on-chain identity for all subsequent Bitcoin network activity from that wallet.

The mechanics are identical to every other major exchange — one withdrawal to a personal wallet, one bc1 address that is the user's own on-chain identity. The additional HTX-specific factor is that exchange-side sends may fragment across multiple HTX operational addresses rather than originating from one consistent source.

Why HTX Sends Aren't Yours

When a user sends Bitcoin from their HTX account, the transaction originates from one of HTX's operational hot wallet addresses. The blockchain records HTX's address as the sender. Any system reading the Bitcoin blockchain — a block explorer, an on-chain competition leaderboard, a payment processor — sees HTX's address, not the user's account name or identity.

Bitok Arena reviewed HTX's withdrawal mechanics to identify the fragmentation issue specific to this exchange.

Address fragmentation — HTX may use different operational addresses for consecutive withdrawals from the same account. Each creates a separate on-chain record. Systems that aggregate by address treat these as unrelated senders — because on Bitcoin, they are.

HBTC warning — HTX supports HBTC, a token on a different chain. When withdrawing BTC, confirm the network is Bitcoin (mainnet) — not HBTC. Sending HBTC to a Bitcoin-only address routes funds to a different chain.

Address formats — HTX supports Native SegWit (bc1q), which incurs lowest fees. Processing time: 10–30 minutes before broadcast.

HTX's infrastructure also means that consecutive sends from the same account may originate from different exchange addresses, creating fragmented records on the Bitcoin blockchain rather than one cumulative position tied to a single address. A personal wallet eliminates this fragmentation: all sends from the wallet's Bitcoin address originate from the same on-chain identity.

The HTX Withdrawal Process

Log into HTX and navigate to the withdrawal or assets section. Select Bitcoin (BTC) as the asset. Enter a personal wallet address — beginning with bc1 for Native SegWit — as the destination. In the network selector, confirm Bitcoin (mainnet) is selected, not HBTC or any other chain. Set the amount, complete security verification, and submit. HTX processes the withdrawal and broadcasts the transaction to the Bitcoin network.

Bitok Arena identified the critical verification steps before confirming any HTX Bitcoin withdrawal.

Network verification — the most important check: confirm the network label reads Bitcoin (mainnet), not HBTC. HBTC routes to a different chain and cannot be recovered by a standard Bitcoin wallet.

Address verification — verify the first and last four characters of the destination address in the HTX interface against the destination wallet. Clipboard malware is the most common theft vector.

HTX confirmation includes a TXID for independent block explorer verification. Minimum withdrawal amount covers the network fee.

Once the transaction confirms on the Bitcoin network, the BTC is in the personal wallet at the bc1 address. All subsequent on-chain Bitcoin sends from that address originate from the user's own on-chain identity. HTX is not in the transaction path at any subsequent step.

After the Withdrawal

The withdrawal establishes the address. Every subsequent on-chain Bitcoin transaction from that address is the user's own blockchain activity — consistent, cumulative, and readable by anyone with a block explorer. The address accumulates a permanent on-chain record: every transaction sent and received, verifiable without requiring any exchange, platform, or intermediary to provide access or confirmation.

A personal wallet eliminates this fragmentation permanently. Every subsequent send from that wallet's bc1 address is a single consistent on-chain identity building a single cumulative record.

HTX is a legitimate exchange for purchasing and storing Bitcoin that is not actively being used in on-chain transactions. A personal wallet is where Bitcoin goes when the on-chain record matters. One withdrawal moves Bitcoin from HTX custody to the user's own on-chain control — and from that point, every transaction from that address is the user's own, permanent, and independently verifiable on the Bitcoin blockchain.

Bitok Arena's review of HTX's withdrawal process found two key issues: the standard exchange custody mechanic (on-chain transactions originating from HTX's addresses rather than the user's), and an HTX-specific fragmentation risk where consecutive withdrawals from the same account may originate from different HTX operational addresses. Both issues are resolved by a single withdrawal to a personal bc1 wallet. After that withdrawal confirms, the user's Bitcoin is at their own address and all subsequent on-chain activity from that address is their own.
