Electrum has been in continuous production use since 2011 — longer than most Bitcoin wallets that exist today. It is Bitcoin-only, non-custodial, and provides more technical control over transactions than any other widely used wallet. For Bitok Arena participants who want manual fee control, UTXO-level visibility, and a wallet with the longest uninterrupted track record in the ecosystem, Electrum is the standard recommendation. The interface trades visual polish for functional depth, and that trade is deliberate.
Electrum does not try to simplify away the technical details of Bitcoin transactions — it exposes them. The fee rate field accepts manual sat/vByte input. The coin control feature lets you select exactly which UTXOs are spent in a transaction. The transaction history shows raw details that most wallets abstract behind cleaner summaries. For a competition where fee precision matters in the final minutes, this level of control is the point.
Install and Setup
Download Electrum exclusively from electrum.org — the official website. Verify the download signature if possible (Electrum provides GPG signature files for this purpose). The fake Electrum wallet industry is active and specifically targets first-time downloads with malicious versions that capture seed phrases. The official website is the only legitimate source.
After installing, run Electrum and choose Create New Wallet. Select Standard Wallet, then Create a New Seed. Electrum generates a 12-word seed phrase and displays it. Write every word in sequence — Electrum will ask you to confirm the phrase by retyping it before the wallet is created. This verification step confirms your transcription is accurate. Complete it before funding the wallet.
Store the seed phrase offline on paper in a secure location. Electrum does not offer a cloud backup option — the only backup is the physical seed phrase. This is not a limitation; it is the correct security model. An encrypted wallet password adds a second factor for accessing the wallet on the device, but the seed phrase is the ultimate recovery mechanism and must be secured independently.
Fund and Send to Bitok Arena
Open the Receive tab to find your bc1q address. Provide this address to your exchange for the withdrawal. Once confirmed, the Electrum balance reflects the deposit. To send to Bitok Arena, open the Send tab. Paste the master wallet address from the leaderboard into the Pay to field. Verify the address character by character before proceeding. Enter the amount.
The fee section is where Electrum provides its most distinctive capability. A slider sets the fee rate between slow and fast confirmations, and a manual entry field accepts a specific sat/vByte value if you want precise control. During competition timing when the next block matters, set the fee to a level that targets confirmation in the next one to two blocks — typically 5-15 sat/vByte depending on current network conditions, which you can check on mempool.space or a similar fee estimator. Click Send, review the summary, and confirm.
Electrum provides more control than most participants need — and exactly the control that some participants specifically require. Manual fee input, UTXO selection, raw transaction visibility: none of this is necessary for a straightforward Bitok Arena entry. All of it is available for the participant who wants to optimize fee timing precisely, manage multiple addresses cleanly, or simply use the wallet whose track record extends back to when Bitcoin was four years old.
Hardware wallet integration is Electrum's other significant feature for regular Bitok Arena participants. Ledger and Trezor devices pair with Electrum directly, keeping the private key on the hardware device while using the Electrum interface for transaction construction and broadcast. For participants who compete regularly with amounts worth protecting by hardware security, this pairing offers both the security model of hardware and the fee control of Electrum.
Electrum: fifteen years of production testing, full fee control, Bitcoin-only focus, Native SegWit by default. The interface requires more familiarity than Exodus or Trust Wallet. The capabilities it provides in exchange are the capabilities that matter most when a round is closing and the fee needs to be exactly right.
